Day 2

We left our hotel early this morning and headed north across the strange alien landscape between Denver and the Big Horn Mountains.

The air was clear this morning, so we got a nice view of the Rockies as we headed out of Denver.

Beyond that we passed into a strange, flat land with very few trees and the occasional antelope. We even saw some camels after crossing the border into Wyoming. Eventually the grasslands started sprouting random clumps of rocks.

After driving for hours we came upon a sudden pit filled with pinnacles of probably-limestone, where-- according to the sign-- Native Americans used to kill buffalo. It was called Hell's Half-Acre, despite the fact that the sign also said it covers 320 acres.

And then there was the sage - lots and lots of sweet smelling sage. It must be the west.

We saw still more strange sights as we continued our long drive.

Stopped into a gas station in Casper Wyoming. The attendant was a super nice western guy and their big sale item was the Big Bag of Spitz!!

Yes - There is a town called Thermopolis.

Going through the only entrance into the Big Horn Valley - Wind river Canyon. This was a spectacular drive through tunnels and windy roads next to a roaring river. More photos to follow here.

We saw a dinosaur on the road along with a lot of antelope which were hard to photograph.

The Hideout at last!!! And our Cabin - which is called The Bear Gulch.

The view from our cabin at The Hideout. What an amazing place. Our cabin if full of amenities and the food is quite gourmet.

Lydia meets the horses. That is why we are here and she is a happy dude.

The happy crew at sunset. Tomorrow we ride!!!!!
