Day 3

We had another early morning today-- up at 6:30, breakfast at 7:30, and then horse stuff an hour later. A few pano views at 6:00am at The Hideout. Ohhhh Ahhhhh.

Tom has his boots on and is ready to go to the barn. We also like the rug.

The horse stable, just down the road from our cabin, and home to 99 horses (but not all at the same time).
We first were brought inside, where we were given a quick hour-long intro to Western riding. It turns out that I (Emma) and still allergic to horse barns.

We were then given our horses, and taken on a little ride in the area of the stable.

Lydia was thrilled to get a mustang to ride. Her name is Maggie. Emma is on Nifty. Tom is riding Romeo and Jessica is on Sandman. These are our mounts for the week. They are all Quarter horses except Lydia gets to ride a Mustang. I guess I said that already. Anyway, how cool is that!

We were given a very short chance to learn a few western riding techniques in the ring.

After our acclamation in the ring, we took a short ride around the ranch. It was a bit chaotic, but we all made it. The ride through the river was wild.

After lunch we went out again, and spent four butt-destroying hours riding through a breathtaking area called the Painted Hills.

At the end of the day we were exhausted. We headed home to a quick dip in the hot tub and another gourmet dinner.
